Outreach BROC's Community Services and Outreach Department serves households by providing assistance to help people meet their basic needs, to resolve crises and to help individuals and families recognize their strengths, promoting their health and well-being. Staff typically see individuals or families on a "one-to-one" basis but also include group learning opportunities. Even though low incomes burden them, the goal of each interaction is to help people build on their ability to be self-reliant. Assistance involves getting to know and understand someone's needs, past experiences and hopes for the future. Services not only help with immediate crises, but encourage learning, skill building and increased economic independence. Our effort is guided by the principles and practice of Family Economic Development, a model for services that respects people, offers hope and connects people with the opportunities to learn and grow in their self reliance.
