Food Shelf Questions:
No, only individuals 60 years old and older can utilize Senior Food Shelf. There is the option to give a call and see if you can do an individual shop outside of Food Shelf hours.
Monday – Friday 10am – Noon. Special Senior hour Friday 2pm-3pm. Generally, one visit per month. We also have food accessible daily during lobby hours.
We have no income guidelines for food access. We do, however, ask income question for necessary data collection.
Yes, with a signed letter giving permission and verification via phone with the person(s) you are shopping for.
We operate as a small market, offering a variety of items from fresh produce, baked goods and dairy to frozen meats and shelf stable items that include canned fruits and vegetables, grains and cereals, juices and mixes.
If your job makes it impossible for you to access the food shelf during our scheduled hours you may call and request an appointment time.

Economic Development Questions:
We have a Credit Builder program here at BROC Community Action that will work with you to address any issues on your credit reports. The first step is to send for your credit report and check for any errors and make sure that what is on the report is correct. If not there is a process to dispute and make corrections. The next step is to address any trades in collections. There are a few ways to work on this. The last step is to create activity of borrowing and paying back to increase your score.
We provide workshops to inform you on what steps are needed to secure a mortgage to purchase a home from improving your credit score and saving to paying down debt. We also can help you determine the mortgage providers that may be the best for you to apply to as well as what to look for in selecting a house.
The average time is 3-6 months from the initial meeting to the business opening but it depends upon the experience level of the business owner.
Weatherization Questions:
Every situation is different. Please DO NOT self-determine, you may exclude yourself some something you are eligible for. There are certain incomes that are not counted for Weatherization income eligibility. Call Kelly at 802.665.1748 and she will help you with eligibility determination.
Yes. We can revisit a previously weatherized dwelling if it has been at least 15 years since it was weatherized.
This can be anywhere from 6 to 12 months. This is a free program, so it has a waitlist.
Housing/Fuel/Utilities Questions:
At least once, depending on funding customers may receive additional assists.
Crisis Fuel season starts the last Monday in November and goes until Friday April 9, 2021 for bulk fuels. Metered fuels continue until April 30, 2021.
